I am planning on getting a canon XTI camera soon. The only thing about it that I dont really like is that is uses CF cards instead of the more popular SD cards.

I have a old Olympus c3000 that I got in 2001 which uses smartmedia cards. Last week I was looking for a replacement card but only one of out of like 10 places had one. Some had no idea what was I talking about.

Do you think that CF cards are going to disappearg from the market soon, or is there still a healthy demand for them to keep it alive for a few more years?

CF seems to be being phased out of consumer cameras, but I think pretty much all professional SLRs still use CF and will for a while.

They'll be around for a long time. Almost all pro gear still uses them.

Another vote. CF cards are far better, just more expensive, usually. They'll stay on with the professional equipment, if Canon is smart. Which they generally are.
