For me, I had a PowerBook G4... the TiBook, actually. Then I upgraded to an AlBook. I loved macs so much then, I got a G4 iMac. Then to the last PowerBook G4... then when G5 came out, my iMac got the switch... then when the Intel Core Duo iMacs came out, I wasn't convinced, and waited for my current Alu iMac. But I got the second macBook Pro (the 2.33GHz variant) which then upgraded to 2.6GHz SR, and then 2.6GHz Penryn now. What was your story?

PPC 601 I got back in '94 as a high school graduation present. 60 MhZ, 250 MB hard drive, 14.4 modem, System 7. Those were the days when computers still had some element of mystique for me, instead of the common household appliance like the microwave.

The first mac I ever used was my Dad's Mac plus from 1986 to 199(4-5?). It became the 'kids computer' when my Dad got a Centris 610. Eventually I bought my own mac, a Performa 6320 CD, when I needed a colour screen for all my 'university presentations' ;)

For me, I had a PowerBook G4...
First Mac? I think it was called simply the "512K mac". It had a floppy disk drive but no hard drive. The macs with the HDs cam later or as dealer modiifications. I've actually stil got a 512K Mac.
I worked for a company were we were seriously thinking about buying an Apple "liza". This was the short lived machine that came out just before the Mac. The Liza was all around a better computer except for the price. It was about (?) 1982 and Apple wanted $10,000 for the Liza and that was back when $10K was alot of money that would buy you a pretyy nice car.

I had a Macintosh LC with Personal Laserwriter LS that I got in college in 1990.
But prior to that I had an Apple ][e complete with duo 5.25" floppy drives. Circa 1984.

My first Mac was a 2.0 C2D Black MacBook bought from the Fifth Ave Apple store... that was a very good day. It's still around, but I sold it to my Dad and bought a 15" 2.4 MBP (because the GMA 950 was getting on my nerves). Recently I sold that and bought a quad 2.8 Mac Pro (because I got in to HD video... MBP can't touch the MP). My most recent Mac is a 12" 1.5 PBG4 to go along with my MP... I'm surprised how snappy the little thing still is.

1. PowerMac G4 Cube: bought early 2001, and is still used connected to an eyetv recording stuff.
2. 12" PowerBook G4 867 mhz: bought mid 2003, still used by my father.
3. 15" PowerBook G4 1,67 ghz lo-rez: bought 04/2005 because the 12" screen was getting difficult for gfx design.
4. 15" PowerBook G4 1,67 ghz lo-rez: bought 08/2005 because the first 15" pb was stolen 3 months after purchase. :(
Is still in almost daily use and does its job with leopard & CS3.
5. 24" iMac 2,8 ghz: bought 08/2007, because well, needed more power. :) Connected to my 21" Eizo lcd it's a great design machine.

Kids.
Fat Mac (512K, System 6.0.3), 1985. Second Apple machine. Hard drives were just getting under $1000 for 10 Meg.
The first being a ][+, 48K, the additional 11" 16K RAM card costing me a cool $200. Floppy was another $200, but the cassette drive was something I already had (Cue tape to prefix tone, type LOAD <enter>. Press "PLAY." Type RUN <enter>).
First pre-built PC was a TRS-80 Model I 4K. More cassette, more manual programming every time you wanted to do something.
First computer was a Heathkit.

I bought a Macintosh Classic off of eBay for $35 in 2003, and played around with it for a while. Then I bought an iMac G3 on eBay in 2004, considered dumping my PC for it, but it was just too slow. Finally, In 2006, I received a Mac mini as a christmas present, and finally "switched"
Since then, I've accumulated 4 more Macs/Apple's, but the mini has passed on, replaced by an iBook G4.
Oh, and walked to school in the snow. Three miles. Uphill. Both ways.
My great grandfather really did walk uphill both ways, in a sense. His school was on the other side of a mountain, so he had to walk up the mountain going to school, and walk up it again coming home. :)

ok, my story is kinda long (and crazy). i'll start off by saying that when i got into computers, i was on a pc. i didn't know hardly anything about macs at all, mainly b/c i was never around one (except when i was like 8, and didn't know it was a "mac")
so, after being a long-time pc user, i was getting tired of windows. i even tried linux a little. when they announced the mac mini, i decided to save up for one. in around march of 2005, i got the 1.42ghz version from Fry's.
near the end of 2005, i ended up selling my pc laptop and getting a 15" G4 powerbook. at the beginning of 2006, i sold my mac mini and bought the first intel iMac 17".
in the middle of 2006, i sold the powerbook and got a macbook. in september i built a pc desktop.
i then bought a mac pro in october. in december i traded the macbook and iMac for a brand new macbook pro. i later sold the home-built pc.
and that's that. i still have the mac pro and macbook pro, over a year later. i just recently stumbled upon a first gen macbook for free, so i currently have 3 macs now

An original Macintosh LC was the computer that I really became a fanatic on. Played Vette! and used Kid Pix to make animations. Man, I wish that HDD was still intact, all 40mb's of it.
Come to think of it my Flash drive has more memory than my first 3 Macs combined.

Four years ago, I got a 12" PowerBook G4 1GHz with 768MB RAM running 10.3 from my friend. I was kind of reluctant to use it at first, and stuck to Windows on my 17" Toshiba laptop, but after several months I gave the Mac a chance and fell in love with it. First family Mac was a Performa 6360 with the apple printer.
Before that, I recall using a Mac classic at my father's office. He was a printer, and had a deep-seated hatred for anything but a Mac when doing design, graphics, etc.
My first Mac that I personally owned is a 2.16 C2D 20" iMac purchased from the refurb store.
After a brief collecting binge, I now have two G4 Cubes, an iMac 15" lamp, an iBook G4, and I am in the process of acquiring a G3 blue tower.
Someday I intend to own an original Mac classic, just like the first one I ever used. My wife's dad has one, now I just need to convince him to sell it...
