Just got this deck for my car. Wanted to report that it works very well with the iPhone. Phone book transfers over just fine, and the iPod controls work surprisingly well.

blairb666, I am planning on purchasing the Pioneer DEH P7000BT head unit for my car as well. I've been keeping my eye on this receiver since it was announced months ago. Glad to hear the interoperability between the iPhone and the head unit works as advertised! Just a question: can you plug a standard iPhone/iPod USB dock cable into the head unit, or is some kind of adapter required?

The unit comes with a female USB cable. I just plug my dock connector into that. Doesn't seem to work if I use the universal dock or the iPhone dock unfortunately. There are also a few little quirks you should know about. Once in awhile if I answer a call while listening to music/podcasts, when I go back to the call the phone won't respond to the deck. A quick reset of the phone seems to cure the problem. The other issue is that it doesn't seem that you can plug it in without it beginning to play a track. Not a huge deal.

Can you search for songs using your iPhone instead of the head unit? For example, using cover flow or watching a movie and having it play through the head unit?
:) Thanks

To be honest, it doesn't officially support the iPhone.
The DEH-P7000BT is compatible with the following iPod models:
iPod touch (Ver.1.1.1)
iPod classic (Ver.1.0.2)
iPod fifth generation (Ver.1.2.1)
iPod nano third generation (Ver.1.0.2)
iPod nano second generation--aluminum (Ver.1.2.1)
iPod nano first generation (Ver.1.3.1)

According to one reviewer (http://www.crutchfield.com/App/Product/Item/Main.aspx?i=130P7000BT&search=pioneer+deh-p7000bt&tp=5684&tab=review):
If you don't want to control the iPod using [the headunit], there's an option to turn audio controls off and you can just use your iPod controls.

Thanks for your quick response QuarterSwede. I'm probably going to buy the head unit and test it out myself. I currently have the Alpine ida-x300, and think it's a big hassle to navigate through the iphone from the head unit.

love the unit and has been working fine. All of a sudden the ipod function won't play tracks from my ipod. The song lists properly but it just won't play; seems to be stuck in pause/stop (I checked all the settings and made sure the pause setting was "off"). The problem occurred "out of the blue". Any suggestions?
