How soon will it be that people will be willing to sell their original model MacBook Pros for around $700?

I don't need any more than the first model, and I was wondering who would be offloading theirs for the update in June.

Thanks.

700s would be in bad condition. Good condition 1.83 CDs are still about 900.

So do you think that by July or post-Penryn that good condition first revs will be around my range?

Could be. Who knows...

Historically Powerbooks have had much less frequent updates than the MacBook Pros, so their prices remained pretty stable over time. Now that Intel processors have come into play, the upgrades are more frequent, and the performance gaps are much greater. The next update to MBPs will put a large performance gap between Core Duos and the newer architecture, making the price gap also significantly bigger. So yes, in theory the early MBPs could be cheap, but maybe not that cheap.

I just sold my first series MacBook Pro for $1499. I doubt it will fall that much. On average I have seen them around 11-14.

I sold a Santa Rosa 2.2 with 4 gigs ram and a 200gb 7200rpm drive for that much. You ripped someone off. You can get a refurb 2.2 or Amazon rebate 2.2 for what you're asking...

Sheesh. That's how much I paid for my refurbished first rev. MBP from Apple in late 2006.
