Every song I buy of the iTunes Media Store almost always slows down the entire computer during video playback it is not even funny. slows Practically the only thing that plays like normal is the audio, the video is mostly frozen and the computer lagging.

Why does this happen and how do I avoid it?

Thanks!

Sorry for not clarifying. When I put the iTMS songs into iMovie it slows down when playing my footage.

iMovie 06

BTW I like important information in bold

This is probably related to the AAC compression used for the iTMS songs. I am not sure if the same issue plagues iMovie 06, but in iMovie 4 (it's either 4 or 5, not sure) when I put an AAC song in the background, it slows to a crawl, video gets jerky, etc. The solution is to burn the song to a music CD (I just keep reusing CD-RW's), reimport with iTunes set to import as MP3, and then use for your iMovie. That should fix it.
