A new site called TouchArcade.com (http://toucharcade.com) has launched which promises to report on gaming apps and news for the iPhone and iPod Touch. With the planned release of the iTunes App Store in June, we can expect a avalanche of new games to be coming to the mobile OS X platform.

Games such as Spore (http://www.macrumors.com/iphone/2008/03/06/iphone-spore-to-be-released-by-ea-in-september/) and Super Monkey Ball (http://www.macrumors.com/2008/03/06/apple-releases-iphone-sdk-demos-spore-instant-messaging/) have already been announced at the initial SDK launch. TouchArcade has already highlighted other games expected soon:

- HermitWorks Developing Space Trader, Quest for iPhone (http://toucharcade.com/2008/04/15/hermitworks-developing-space-trader-quest-for-iphone/)
- Adventure Gaming Excellence Lands on the iPhone (http://toucharcade.com/2008/04/08/adventure-gaming-excellents-lands-on-the-iphone/)
- Quake 3 Ported to the iPod touch (http://toucharcade.com/2008/04/06/quake-3-ported-to-the-ipod-touch/)
- Parallel Kingdom: The iPhone’s First MMORPG (http://toucharcade.com/2008/03/21/parallel-kingdom-the-iphones-first-mmorpg/)
- Pangea Porting Enigmo to iPhone (http://toucharcade.com/2008/03/18/pangea-porting-enigmo-to-iphone/)

TouchArcade.com's primary editor is our own blakespot (http://forums.macrumors.com/member.php?u=9) (admin) -- an avid gamer, and retro computer (http://www.bytecellar.com/) fanatic. I will be involved as well, with some editorial content and site administration.

You're never to old! :) I am pushing 40 and love playing XBOX online with my younger brother and friends. I look forward to seeing what comes out for the iPhone. I'm like a little kid when it comes to this stuff!

This is awesome, I've actually be searching for some place that's dedicated to covering games on the iPhone. Thanks for all who are working on this and put this together...gaming on the iPhone/Touch is going to be huge. HUGE.

The iPhone can somewhat roughly triangulate its position based on a combination of cell tower location data as well as known WiFi points. It usually works rather well. There's a "find me" button in the iPhones Maps application that uses this technology to self-locate.

Obviously things work better in Parallel Kingdom, for a variety of reasons, if its being played in a metropolitan area as opposed to a barley field in the middle of Kansas.

Gaming on the touch platform interests me more than any previous handheld--or console, including the Wii.

And it will really take off, since a) Unity is coming to iPhone and b) people only buy one of most app types... but they buy multiple games.

I like the idea of gaming on the iPhone because I see it drawing more attention to the mac platform. I think apple is trying to enter the market in a very subtle way.

Looks like a great new website!

I'm really excited about games on the iPhone, too. I was so blown away by the demos at the SDK release. And the 3G iPhone should have even better graphics than that!

I'd especially like it if someone ported some turn-based RPGs. Maybe KOTOR!

I'm betting that there will be hundreds of games available by the end of the year. I'm asking for iTunes gift cards for my birthday and Xmas! :)

I see the push and also the enthusiasm – but at some level I feel the lack of sufficient no. of buttons outside of the screen area is going to make it difficult for developers and gamers alike. But I am still counting on creative juices to overcome such limitations though...
