Is there anyway (e.g. through using an adaptor cable) to send the video output from a Macbook Pro to a device's (e.g. Television) HDMI port?

I'm thinking probably not, but thought I would ask...

Yep, you can buy DVI > hdmi adaptors/cables. I seem to recall seeing them both on Amazon and on Maplin's web site.

This works perfectly but it's worth noting that it's video only. DVI cannot carry audio, even when converted to HDMI.

Before you hit up eBay, try monoprice.com. It's hard to beat a DVI->HDMI cable for less than $5.

I have dealt with monoprice a dozen or so times and have never been left wanting.

Thanks for the tip, though I live in England, so would probably cost me a lot on postage (maybe not, though, will check...)

As you said earlier, you won't go too far wrong on eBay. I got a great DVI -> HDMI cable for my MB very cheap. 🙂
