I have a PowerMac G4 that does not have a dvd reader and I need to install leopard. Can I connect my intel imac via firewire and install leopard on the G4 using target mode. If so, what are the step in doing this.
Thanks

You can install via Target mode.
Hold down the T key on the keyboard while booting the PowerMac G4 then connect a firewire cable computer to computer.
Note that using Leopard with little RAM and a weak video card is a painful experience.

I believe that target mode can not be used to share CD/DVD drives.

Well if it is really slow and possibly not functional. What advice is there for a Power PC G4 to get upgraded without a dvd reader. It was running 10.3 then i used the box restore cds but didn't realize they were 10.2. So things are not going well.

I believe that target mode can not be used to share CD/DVD drives.
Target mode makes the G4 appear as a normal external firewire drive.

How fast is your G4? I am playing with an 867MHz QuickSilver at work and I believe that is the minimum speed Leopard will install on from the DVD (though you can hack the installer to work on slower machines).
