Question about Final Cut Express and PhotoShop on a White MacBook

Hi. I've heard that Final Cut Express doesn't work that well on a regular White MacBook, but I was wondering if it'd still work good if I added a 350+ External Hard Drive? Same deal with PhotoShop.
