View Full Version : Music to get her in the mood

Simple enough:

Let's get some music that's good to play in the car to let your date know you're hip and cool without being typical rock 'n roll, rap, hardcore electronica or mind-numbing dance music.

You don't want to come off as being too niche-based in your music choices (like if you played nothing but metal or emo all night), but nothing too mainstream either.

Something she hasn't heard in awhile or something covered in a way she's never thought of (like Blue Monday by Flight in my list).

Something that plays not in the background or forefront, but somewhere in between. Not too heavy, not too soft. Good bass, a little punchy, a good melody.

I've got a short playlist here I've amassed of songs others have recommended, and I have to thank Foucalt for the initial idea with his review of John Mayer's Your Body is a Wonderland; I've built the list around that tune.

This is a great make out song. Dim the lights, crank up the bass, and watch John Mayer voice and guitar seduce your girlfriend into a sexual beast. It works!!! - Foucalt

Without further ado, here it is so far:

-Black Is The Color Of My True Love's Hair (Jaffa Remix)
Nina Simone

-Je T'Aime...Moi Non Plus
Jane Birkin / Serge Gainsbourg

Your Body Is a Wonderland
John Mayer

Undress Me Now
Morcheeba

Teardrop
Massive Attack

Otherwise
Morcheeba

Blue Monday
Flunk

care to add? Anything my taste finds is good enough and in context with the songs above will be added to this list here.

On my first date with my wife I had just bought Beck's midnight vultures. I played "Nicotine and Gravy" and called her attention to it. I guess she couldn't do without me after that!

Wicked Game by Chris Isaak, and just about any Coldplay song. I've gotten good results with that stuff.

Can't beat the classics --

Let's Get it On -- Marvin Gaye (though the Jack Black version from the High Fedelity soundtrack ain't bad either).

Pretty much anything by Barry White.

Obvious choices, but obvious for a reason.

I just made a playlist of love songs for my girlfriend. It included the following songs:

1. Love by John Lennon
2. Love by G. Love & Special Sauce
3. Some song named Irving or maybe the band's name is Irving, I don't know - it's a random song I downloaded off some web site a long time ago.
4. I'm the Man who Loves You by Wilco
5. Lovesong by The Cure
6. If Your Love is Real by David Gray
7. Playground Love by Air
8. L.M.L.Y.P. by Ween - I can't say on this forum what this stands for (although I can tell you the first four letters stand for "Let Me Lick Your..."); this song probably wouldn't work for most girls, but mine absolutely loved it. If you've got a dirty girlfriend like mine (j/k), give it a try.
9. I Felt Your Shape by The Microphones - a nice indie song.
10. ********** in Rhythm and Sorrow by Bjork
11. Place to Be by Nick Drake
12. Fade Into You by Mazzy Star
13. The Cage by Travis
14. Cupid's Trick by Elliot Smith
15. Bottle of Blues by Beck
16. One to Dance by The Carolines
17. What Do You Get (When You Fall in Love?) by Elvis Costello and Burt Bacharach
18. Wooden Nickels by Eels
19. Kick Drum by G. Love & Special Sauce - might not be a good song to pick if your girlfriend's name isn't Niki and/or she's not nasty (good nasty)
20. Turn Me On by Norah Jones

Usually, when I'm riding around in the ol' couch-mobile with my girlfriend, we listen to either G. Love & Special Sauce, Ben Harper, Jack Johnson, Damien Rice, or something with a nice groove along those lines.

I don't know about songs to get you into the mood but Nine Inch Nails's Closer is a great song for old-fashioned screwing.

That idea seems too played out.

Friend of mine recommends Black Sabbath's Paranoid. You start making out during "Planet Caravan" (track 3) and that leads into the screwing during "Iron Man".

Personally I do't have a playlist written. But I think one should play good classic (like oldies) music. Maybe some jazz or R&B thrown in. I mean real R&B, not that R. Kelly crap.

How's this for a novel idea: Play what you like - maybe you'll have shared interests, and that in and of itself is sexy. When my man and I were first dating, the fact that we had so many shared interests was intriguing. But, for the record:

Sexy:
Maynard James Keenan (especially Crawl Away w/TOOL and Passenger w/Deftones - a 5-star sexy song!)
Chris Cornell (anything, really, just a great voice)
NIN - Metal (correct me if not the proper title - super sexy song!)

and YES! Planet Caravan (Pantera), one of my all-time favorites!

Here's a few I feel are worthy...

Poe - Fingertips

Marvin Gaye - Sexual Healing

Kenny Wayne Shepherd - Deja Voodoo

Sarah McLachlan - Possession

Semisonic - Secret Smile

Depeche Mode - In Your Room

Madonna - Forbidden Love

Chris Isaak - Wicken Game

the only thing about this:

"This is a great make out song. Dim the lights, crank up the bass, and watch John Mayer voice and guitar seduce your girlfriend into a sexual beast. It works!!!" - Foucalt

is that your girl might not be thinking of you during the make out session ;)

what about ******* her gently by tenacious d?

How about "If you don't wanna ***** me baby, ***** off" by Jayne County and the Electric Chairs?

Always sends out the right signals with us sensetive types...:D

I say we start a sexual revolution fellas. It's time that women start seducing us more with stuff like music. I would love to go over to a girl's place and hear soothing music like the before mentioned Sarah Mclaughlin, and have her put forth an effort like a lot of us guys do. We need to come up with a solution to turn the tables so we start receiving cool music from the ladies. :D

I've also discovered that Goldfrapp's Black Cherry album has some killer beats on it that have a similar effect. One need only to watch the Train video to see what I'm talking about...

Just remember to wear a condom before you play these songs:

Colorblind - Counting Crows
Lovesong - The Cure
Patience - Guns N Roses
My December - Linkin Park
Babylon - David Gray
Maybe I'm Amazed - Paul McCartney
I Want To Know What Love Is - Boston
Hands Down - Dashboard Confessional
One - U2
With Or Without You - U2
Life For Rent - Dido
Take My Hand - Dido
Beautiful - Snoop Dogg
Driving Sideways - Aimee Mann
Flamenco Sketches - Miles Davis
Giant Steps - John Coltrane

The best album to get her wet on is Kind of Blue by Miles Davis. I don't care if they don't like jazz. Just turn off the lights, light up the candle, burn some incense, and the magic will happen. I just set that album to repeat, and you could be making out for hours. It's almost trantric the way the album seduces women. It's kinda ****ty sometimes though because you feel like Miles Davis is getting it on with your girl... So boys, download that album!!!

first off...music alone isn't enough. you gotta have the vibe...but that's another thread.

my fav's are:

chet baker...soundtrack of " let's get lost"
the blue nile...walk along rooftops
counting crows..august and everything after
peter gabriel...passion ( this should come with a "may produce children" warning label).

and for the morning after:
chris cornell...euphoria morning ( for round #2;) )
or
jimmy smith...prayer meetin ( for coffee and a shower)

this knowledge is dangerous...use it wisely. :D

Seconded. Ladytron is ********* sassy stuff... you might want to check out 'evil' from, uh, 'Light and Magic'. For your pleasure, at your leisure.
If you can, try and get hold of 'Let them crush us' by Mesh for... the morning after, so to speak. It's a killer, sadly there aren't iTMS links :(

I submit for your consideration:

"Let Go" by Frou Frou

It's enchanting and dreamy without being one of those slow and syrupy songs. You might have heard it in the trailer for the movie "Garden State."

I can guarantee that at least one girl likes this song (me). ;)

Edit: Whoa this is an old thread, sorry, it was in the "New Posts" list.

Good thread though :)

Just pop in "Give Up" by The Postal Service. That whole album is fun, funky, different, and great to listen to. I can almost guarantee that she'll ask about it, and within a few days she'll be listening to it all the time! If you haven't listened to The Postal Service, you really need to. They are like nothing else.

I just made a playlist of love songs for my girlfriend. It included the following songs...20. Turn Me On by Norah Jones...

The Norah Jones version of Turn Me On isn't very good, try the original Nina Simone. Also, Feeling Good.
