Hi Guys,

I am buying a used powerbook g4 1.5ghz with 1.25gb ram. It has 60gb hd and combo drive.
How can i find out the speed of the hard drive ( 4200 vs 5400 rpm)?

PowerBook6,8
TOSHIBA MK6026GAX ( this is the hd on the powerbook )

Is this a good choice for basic stuff ( email, safari, itunes) and some movie stuff ( isquint, ffmpegx )

Cheers

The 12" Powerbook G4 is one of my favorite Apple notebooks of all time!

That should be sufficient for that kind of a work. I have a very similar 12" 1.5GHz PB G4 that I still use to this day for Internet/e-mail and scriptwriting.

To answer your question, if the 60GB drive is the original Apple drive, it should be a 5,400 rpm unit. The 60GB drive mine originally came with was a 5,400 rpm Fujitsu. But that has since between replaced by a 7,200 rpm Hitachi Travelstar (old drive died).
