Is the only different really between an ipod touch refurb and original is just that the electronics inside is used? But then since they reset everything AND put on a shiny new case around it, there should be no difference but from the fact that the electronics inside was used before right?

Yes. You'll also get a brown box instead of the retail one, and you'll save $50 (or $70 if you don't get the one with the software upgrade).

And it'll have 100% quality control, whereas the regular run of touches only have a few percentage undergo quality control.

Correct. And if you do happen to get a lemon, you'll be protected by the exact same warranty coverage as you would for a new unit.

Yeah, I've had good luck buying Apple refurbs. Save the money, unless you care about a retail box vs. a refurb box.
