Home Button Not Working at All

Ok, so for the past few days the home button has been intermitten,but today it has become completely unresponsive and I have to turn the iPod off and back on jut to get back to the home screen. Anybody have any suggestions?

I will call Apple later today but I don't think I have AppleCare on this thing.

They'll fix it AppleCare or not as it's still within the included one year hardware warranty.
