I call it an iPod Touch, or just an iPod. I hate iTouch. It wasn't named that, and it never will be, so why bother using it, except if your lazy and dont want to type the other few letters and the space... ooooh, what a hardship... :p

It seems wrong because it is wrong. ;)

The Apple Ministry of Names has declared this product to be the iPod touch (with the lower-case 't').

Sure, but I don't have a problem with other shortenings, such as MBA, MBP, etc. Somehow "iTouch" is different. And I couldn't care less whether "touch" is capitalized.

I don't really care either, but if the question is which two is "right," obviously only one of them meets this qualification. I suppose Apple is at least partly to blame for creating such a convoluted naming scheme for their products.

any one ever accidently refer to their touch as iphone ever? happens to be all the time.

no one calls the shuffle ishuffle, or the nano inano so why would itouch even be an option?

I cringe at the word iTouch

Nobody calls the other iPods iClassic or iNano do they?

iTouch is a word some n00b came up with somewhere and all the other n00bs joined in and thought it would be cool to call it that too.

It makes me almost as sick as Imac, I-Mac, I-MAC, Ipod and iPoT.

Just for the record iPoT is lame too.

I prefer saying iPod touch (no, I didn't realize it was a lowercase "t") in situations where there is ambiguity (or Touch if I really don't feel like saying two words) and just iPod in situations where there is no ambiguity or relevance (I was listening to music on my iPod).

I find iTouch irritating for some reason also. That and iTooth, although thankfully that one seems to have died out.

iTouch just seems like a dumb word. Like when companies feel like being "new" and "trendy" so they slap the letter "I" on the front of all their products.
iSleepingBag, iCoffee, etc, etc. iTouch makes me sick.

Reminds me of a popular Mad TV skit.

In internet I call it iTouch or iPT. "touch" is so wide-spread word (unlike nano or shuffle) to just call it "touch" on the internet because it could be confusing to some.

well I like it when people call it an iPhone (much better than iTouch in my opinion)

I agree with you 100%. It's just NOT what it's called. Apple called it an iPod touch for a reason... it's an iPod with the secondary name "touch"... not an iTouch. If Apple adopts this term, I will kill myself.

All my friends are like "thats cool Austin, you got the iTouch???!!!!" and I always mumble under my breath, "It's actually an iPod touch". To me it sounds like purebred ignorance, I have no idea why, but it just makes me want to hit people.

Oh, oh! To the people who call it an iTouch, just read my explanation of why it's not called that, I swear it's not as violent as the above paragraph. :)

Ahem *cough, cough* Here we go:

The iPhone is called an iPhone because it's a completely new platform, if they ever came out with an iPhone Pro, it wouldn't be called the iPro, people would designate it as the platform name (iPhone) then the second name (Pro). Same thing with the Mac Pro and Mac mini, MacBook Air, and MacBook/MacBook Pro. The iPod touch is a member of the iPod platform, therefor it's the platform name (iPod) then the second name (touch). iPod touch!

And also:
'I just installed some software on my MAC...'
What's that all about? It's not an acronym

Meh. I call it touchPod.

For the rest of iPod products - I call it fatNano (iPod Nano), classicPod (iPod Classic), touchPod (iPod Touch). Easier to say. :)

I think you're on your own with this one, I've never heard it called that before :)

GGGGGGGGAAAAAAAHHHHHHH! NO! not acceptable! :eek::eek:

It's not an iPod Touch, it's an iPod touch ... You complaining about me typing it as iTouch is kind of like the pot calling the kettle black. ;)

iPod touch

That is the official exact name. On the Apple website usually when you see iPod it's in bold and the name afterwards (touch, classic, nano) is in regular font.

Edit: Oh and that picture labeling it an iTouch needs to be changed, on my way to write a letter

I confess I call(ed) it the iTouch for the sake of quickness, but I can admit to what a gross mislabeling it is.

However, I think IPT is pretty acceptable.

Guys, I have no idea whether this has any relevance what so ever, but i believe that Apple cannot officially call the iPod touch an iTouch because that seems to be the name of my Logitech PC wireless keyboard...

See the attached screenshot of some of the settings

Since this keyboard is what... 4, going on 5 years old now, surely the name must be trademarked or something... restricting Apple of that name?

Edit: This (http://www.amazon.com/Logitech-9670510403-iTouch-Keyboard/dp/B00004VUFB) is another iTouch logitech keyboard - not my one exactly, but similar. Just shows you i'm not talking complete jibberish.

It sucks cause so many people use iTouch. Google iTouch and guess what the first thing that comes up is? Apple's homepage of the iPod touch. I hate the defiling name iTouch, and so many YouTube videos and blog posts call it that.

Also, off of Wikipedia.
"iTouch may refer to:
A Logitech keyboard range released in approximately 1998 [1]
The Parent Company of Ostrich Media, a provider of interactive television services
The Pasen iTouch, a touchscreen Portable media player. [2]
Apple's iPod touch, a portable media player released in late 2007."

I call it an iPod Touch, or just an iPod. I hate iTouch. It wasn't named that, and it never will be, so why bother using it, except if your lazy and dont want to type the other few letters and the space... ooooh, what a hardship... :p

Why bother making a big deal about it? All I've noticed so far is people who know that the iTouch is a nickname for the iPod touch, and then the people who deliberating make a problem out of it. Who cares if some people call it the iTouch? You still know what they're talking about, right? Like I said, the only problem I see is that some people like to pretend they don't know what iTouch means, because they 'hate' it. How can you hate something so meaningless, so small?

You are being pedantic. But thank you for finally admitting that "iTouch" is a nickname and not an official product name, which is exactly what I've been saying for a while now. You can call your iPod touch whatever the heck you want, but the official name is still iPod touch.

I used to drive a Chevy. Everyone knows what a Chevy is, it is a generally accepted nickname, but all the official GMC literature refers to Chevrolet, because that is what it is officially called.
