Hi, I am having the hardest time trying to install one 2gb stick of RAM into my aluminum iMac. I followed all the instructions, watched a few videos online and everything but it just won't go in all the way. My thumbs still have dents in them! Yes I did make sure the notch was on the left hand side too. The stick slides in ok but I can't get it to go any further after that and I know it isn't in all the way since it still sticks out about an 1/8 on an inch and it doesn't feel in place. I know I'm not that strong, but I tried really hard!

I looked inside the slot and the black tab seems to be blocking the pins. (yes, I pulled the tab out of the way before putting the RAM in, I'm talking about the other side of the black tab) Also that part of the tab seems to be sticky and it made the pins on the stick of RAM sticky too. Is this normal? I tried taking the stick of RAM out that came with the iMac but I couldn't get it out to see if the same thing happened on that side even though I was pulling on that little black tab so hard I had to keep one arm down on the iMac so it wouldn't slide off my bed.

I'm probably doing this all wrong but it sure wasn't this hard installing RAM into my iMac G5!

I upgraded mine 2 weeks ago and I'm 6ft tall and 200+ pounds and I didn't have it inserted far enough the first time.

Make sure they are inserted in line and then a last push for about an 1/8 of an inch.

Good luck, I would have helped you but Montréal, Qc is really far away.
