dell takes another hit

yup...they are pulling out to 'other areas around the globe', which means cheaper costs. ugh.
sad for the folks involved.
 
Hey, atleast Dell is selling Ubuntu on there computers.


Raised them above other PC makers for me.

It looks like this is getting attention in the provincial government. The Ottawa Citizen has an article about how the Ontario government courted dell with $11 Million in "provincial training subsidies"... now 3 years later they pull out?

Now I'm sure the money did go to training the employees (and who knows if Dell was given or spent it all), but damn. All this fuss to only stay for three years? Dell must really be hurting or their business planning really sucks!

What's happening is that "North American" support is now at a 1:1 cost with the US Dollar - no longer cost effective to be in Canada.

Also, Michael Dell doesn't consider North America a growth market. He is pulling out more or less and setting up in the growth markets of China and India.

Not to mention, most of my friends, neighbors, and people at work have figured out their computer are horrible... 😱
