Ok I wasn't sure how to word this for a search, so I apologize if this has been asked before.
So I have my email set up with my .mac account on my iphone, and I would like it to alert me when I receive a new email. But it seems that it doesn't do this, it only really looks for new emails when I open up the mail app. I open it up, wait a couple seconds and there, I have a couple new emails. If I leave the app without reading the mails it shows the little numbers next to the mail icon, indicating that I have a number of unread mail. It's not really that big of a deal, and maybe it is not meant to do this; but I just wanted to check and see if maybe there is an option somewhere that I can turn on.

in mail options you can set it to auto check every X minutes (even when not running)
