so do sit files not work on osx anymore ?

yea, i think The Unarchiver can open it. Don't use Stuffit expander!

Second recommendation for the Unarchiver. (http://wakaba.c3.cx/s/apps/unarchiver.html) It's a great little app, handles just about any archive format and is a whole lot less buggy than the abomination that is Stuffit Expander.

.sit is a dying format, frankly - it was only ever popular on the Mac, never making any real inroads anywhere else, and since OS X started to .zip utilities as standard has pretty much disappeared. Good riddance, I say :p

yea but if i double click it it will open txt edit or if i right and open with only txt edit shows up

w.e im using stuffit for one thing then ill mostlikly delete it

You can right-click on the file. Use the "get info" option and change which app opens it.
