Closing MB Lid With External Monitor

I have a 23" ACD attached to my MB. I thought that the computer was supposed to stay awake when clocising the lid. My MB will go to sleep when I am watching a video if I close the lid. What am I missing here?

You either need a USB keyboard and mouse plugged in or a Bluetooth one.

I forgot how I used to do it but one way is to plug in any usb gadget. That will wake it even with the lid closed.

Thanks, I just tried it with a mouse and it works. You have to attach the mouse first, close the lid and sleep the computer. Then wake it with the mouse. Very weird way to have to do this.
