Wouldent it be messed up if the iPhone had 3G all along just that apple didnt feel like giving it to us? Kinda like the macbook pro with the 802.11n thing? And that they would sell a 3g 'unlock'
I know you developers/iphone masters have something to disprove this but still, i thought it would be funny

I think 1.77 million iPhone users would be very happy to know that their phone is more than they expected.

Would be nice, but it wont happen. SJ already confirmed the reason for no 3G is because they couldn't get a chip that had low battery usage.

it would be absolutely sick if jobs announced the iphone 2 as an update to the firmware which unlocks 3G, stereo bluetooth, wifi, video recording, mms, and of course the SDK..it would quite possibly be the most bold stunt ever pulled by a company..now i realize the iphone needs hardware upgrades to do this stuff..but just imagine if it were built in and no one knew about it

Not very long after the launch of the product, people took it apart and found no 3G hardware.

It would irreversibly damage Apple's reputation.

I'd guess that 5.7 millions users would be!

This has been discussed ad nauseum. While Apple's move to 3G may not be leaked far in advance because of its FCC disclosures, the FCC process would have prevented Apple from putting a 3G radio in the current iPhone without telling you about it.
