I placed a cd in the drive of my laptop and i think it's jammed cos when you press eject the machine makes a noise but nothing happens. I've read about the paper clip thing but not that confident about what to do or if this will help if the disk is jammed.

If it is a new one, there is no paperclip hole and you will have to try open firmware to force an eject:

Open Firmware

1. Restart the computer.
2. Immediately after the system startup tone, press and hold the Command-Option-O-F key combination.
The computer starts up to a text-only screen, indicating that you are in Open Firmware.
3. At the prompt, type: eject cd
4. Hit enter/return key.

It should try forcing the disc out three times. If it doesn't work, try it again, but hold it so that the CD drive is pointing down so that gravity may aid in it coming out.

Hope that helps, good luck.
