If I'm just four months into my o2 contract, can I get the new 3G phone when it comes out in June? If so, how??

Most likely. All you have to do is shell out another few hundred £ and transfer the contract, I figure.
That's all I had to do when I upgraded from an 8GB to the 16GB. Buy the iPhone and transfer the service to the new one via iTunes..

With o2 I am not sure, with AT&T you can upgrade an iPhone any number of times and not start a new contract.

AT&T has said that a contract will not start over when you upgrade iPhones. Therfore you keep the same contract.

Yes, it does start over, since my wife and I just got off the phone with AT&T, but we did get a nice Freebie phone as a back-up for one of our (3) iPhones! (SORRY, you're correct, AT&T will not renew the contract for upgrades to existing customers, my BAD! She bought and upgraded to the iPhone from a Motorola KRZR.). 😱😱😱
