What would be the best free software which would automatically uninstall any programs that I have installed? Sorry for the n00b question, but I am a recent mac convert :D

Generally, all you need to do is drag the app to the Trash. But if you want to be sure to grab the few little bits that might still be left behind, give AppCleaner (http://www.freemacsoft.net/AppCleaner/index.php) a shot.
Of course, if an app comes with it's own uninstaller, you should use that instead.

I use App Zapper as my app uninstaller and I like it a lot. The only downside is it's shareware for $12.95.

Another alternative is appDelete (http://reggie.ashworth.googlepages.com/appdelete)

It's a pretty good deal for only 13 bucks and a free lifetime of upgrades. It's a cheap price for those that pay 12 or 13 hundred for a lop top and it supports the mac developers. I use it all the time and have been doing so since it came out. Great app! ;)

I use App Trap (http://konstochvanligasaker.se/apptrap/) its free and when you move an app to trash it asks if you want to move associated files with it
