Micro-Dvi in next MacBook?

I noticed on Apple's website that the Mini and Macro-Dvi ports put out the same screen resolution. Would in make sense to see a smaller port on the next MacBook?

they could make a micro-dvi to display-port connector, right?

1) I doubt they will go that way, since the MacBook will probably keep the Ethernet port which is bigger than Mini-DVI. The only possible reason I see would be the unification of converters, but still, abandoning MiniDVI would piss off people who currently own a lot of converters.

2) Micro-DVI to DisplayPort seems like a bad solution. Since nobody else uses Micro/Mini-DVI, the only reason Apple has for using them is smaller dimensions. DisplayPort is small enough and should support the same features, so why not include something that's bound to become a widely-used standard rather than something that forces the user into buying an expensive converter?

If by "macro-Dvi" you mean the full-size DVI connector, then I don't think
you'll be seeing it on future MacBooks, though I guess it is a possibility.

If you mean "micro-DVI (http://bitguru.wordpress.com/2008/01/15/apples-macbook-air-intoduces-micro-dvi/)" then I dunno. Currently the MacBookPro has DVI,
the MacBook has mini-DVI, and the MacBookAir has micro-DVI. There's
nothing wrong with the size of mini-DVI on the MacBook, but it might
make sense for Apple to standardize on fewer laptop display connectors.

I'm somewhat unimpressed with mini-DVI's ability to stay plugged in. If
micro-DVI is better in this regard—I have no idea if it is—then I'd say sure,
go with micro-DVI instead.

DisplayPort has a nice locking connector and is royalty-free, but it is physically
wider than mini-DVI or micro-DVI and we need another laptop display connector
like a moose needs a hat rack.
