I realize I put this post in the wrong place so here goes:

Help ibook dies unexpectedly and often!
It started just a few times and now it's dying once or twice a day in the middle of using it.
At first it was like it was still on but the screen was dark.
now I have to use the control button to turn it back on and it comes back on but hasn't shut down.

I tried resetting pram and did the disc utility repair and it said the logic board, etc was fine.

Any suggestions, I am going nuts!

I do need a new battery but I keep it plugged into the wall . It holds a charge for about 30 minutes.
I use an igo plug in charger often now because I wanted a car charger and the igo seems to stay snug in the ibook. The apple adapter seems to become loose often and I have to toggle it to get the charge going again.
Do you think that might have something to do with it?

It always says "battery low" if it needs to be plugged in more securely so I am thinking it isn't just dying out of the blue w/out a message.

Try using coconut battery to confirm that it is your battery that has died.
From the sound of it, it isn't holding a charge anymore so it's putting your ibook to sleep.

You didn't say which ibook you have but I'm guessing that its a least 3-4 years old. not too bad for a battery.

Can you borrow one of a friend and try that?

its no harm to get it checked at a store. They should be able to tell what needs to be done to it

I haven't been able to take it in. I switched to another battery I had and it seems better. I did the ioreg -l | grep command and got this info:

Capacity; exit
| | | "IOBatteryInfo" = ({"Capacity"=820,"Amperage"=1146,"Cycle Count"=25$
| | | | "IOBatteryInfo" = ({"Capacity"=820,"Amperage"=1146,"Cycle C$

Do I need a new battery or is it something else probably?

You can also go to the Apple in the top left hand corner and click About This Mac. Then click on more info, Hardware and then the Power tab. You can see the information about your battery there if you haven't downloaded Coconut Battery yet.

Also check to make sure it's not your AC adapter that's at fault.
