Cant Remove Windows Media Player

I cant remove windows media player. It keeps on saying 'the operation cannot be completed because the item "htm" is in use. Does anybody know how to fix this problem?

reboot, then drag/drop the app to the trash.

If you are talking about Windows Media Player in Windows and not the Mac version, I don't believe it is removable.

Back on topic, on normal versions of Windows I'm not sure if you can remove it, as it ties in with so many other things. There is a version that excludes it, but it's not really worth buying a whole new version for less features.

A quick search on google unearthed this (http://techie-buzz.com/technology-buzz/how-to-uninstall-windows-media-player-11.html) however. Might be worth a shot.

So why post something pointless then if you knew about bootcamp??,yes it matter if the player is on OS X or windows,but it can be on either as there is such thing as bootcamp & the windows on the Mac sub forum

Until the OP graces us with a clarifying post, I think we have no where to go on this thread. We've already told him how to delete Windoze Media Player on the Mac. And we've already told him it's not adviseable on Windoze....

Not advisable? Vista Ultimate runs fine without it and the dozens of other Microsoft crapware apps that it installs. Here's how it goes down:

Do your Boot Camp dealio. Get everything how you want it and then reboot into OS X.

(I don't know if you need MacFUSE for this, but I have it.)

Now open your Windows partition from OS X and navigate to the Program Files folder. Drag anything that you don't want/need to the OS X trash and let it get rid of it. When you restart Windows, none of these apps will have "reinstalled" themselves and Windows doesn't complain because the files were not only deleted, but were wiped from the plane of existence as far as Windows is concerned. It has no knowledge whatsoever of the apps that you deleted, so it can't create callbacks to something that virtually never existed.

I got rid of all of the Windows games, Movie Maker, Player, the photo apps, and everything that didn't involve drivers. Vista now runs very well. Go figure.

OK. I have no doubt you and many others have done this.
However, I wonder about two potential problems:
1) Registry.
2) Windows updates.

Messing around with integrated Windows Apps (like Media Player) is bound to create problems sooner or later, right? Or am I totally off-base here?

Cant see why you think im ranting,just stating that i wondered why you would think its not possible to post windows related questions on this part of the forum thats all
