I've thought about putting together a cheap PC just for streaming 1080p content to a really nice 52" LCD we have, but then I realised that nothing DIY could possibly match the small form factor of a Mac mini, not without investing lots of time in a custom case and cherry picking the parts to fit (especially the PSU), so I thought hey, what about the Mac mini?

My only concern though is power, or as Jeremy Clarkson would put it, POWAHHH. I recall that anything above 720p was laggy as hell on an AMD 3500+ Venice + 6800nu rig, but I can't recall if HD content is taxing on the processor (to decode) or the graphics card (to render, or decode). Either way, is the Mac mini powerful enough to do it without choppiness?
