I have a Canon Optura Xi MiniDV Camcorder but dont know how to import videos onto my mac I have the USB connector plugged in but when I plug it in it does nothing how can I put it on to my mac.

You need to use FireWire, not USB, and iMovie to capture the footage (the camera won't show up as an external drive or anything like that).

It is "fire wire"
It is that other little jack, the rectangle shaped one the USB cord will not fit into.

You will need a 4 to 6 pin firewire cable with ends that look like this

the smaller 4 pin end goes to the camera, the larger on to the computer.

Note the external disk drives can also use firewire but they use a cable with 6 pins on each end
