I need to get a external HDD preferably with RAID. Can anyone who uses these comment on the NewerTech Guardian Maximus or G-Tech G-Raid2? Thanks!

G-tech certainly has the reputation.
But really both companies just buy drives from Western Digital or Seagate and stuff them in boxes. Maybe one of the boxes is nicer but what's inside the box matters more. What annoys me is that you can't specify which drive you'd prefer. I've been buying empty enclosers and bare drives and putting them together myself. OMC will sell the the enclosure empty.

G-Tech is a Hitachi company it seems from their site. On the box it is mentioned explicitly that they use Hitachi Drives.
I ordered a Guardian Maximus and 2 Hitachi 2TB drives. Saving myself a bit of money, but maybe should have gone for G-Tech. I know the GM can function in several raid modes by changing jumpers though.
