View Full Version : Hello to you all

MR Lurker

Well, I finally did it. After about 6 months lurking around this site I've plucked up the cojones and registered. Firstly, I'd like to say that MacRumors.com is one of the best Apple rumour sites on the Net, IMHO. I feel a real sense of community amongst the members. But most of all, it's fun! I was here when Time Canada leaked the story of the new flat-panel iMac early. Remember how you all got depressed and angry to start with, and then slowly came around until you all now LOVE the new iMac? And I nearly split myself laughing over the posts with that kid who insisted that his band was ordering like 20 TiBooks... to do research on composers! Ha ha ha. Great moments in history. I know there'll be plenty more great moments on MacRumors in the future, too. I believe this really is a golden age for Apple.

So how much of an Apple fan am I? Well, put it this way... I love Macs, and don't even own one! In fact, I haven't used one since high school! My computer is a trusty old Gateway crashing along on Windows98, for Fawkes's sake! But I've been converted by sites like this, and people like you, to think seriously (different) about Macs. So my next purchase will be a nice shiny new iBook... just as soon as finances allow. (Although there are as-yet undiscovered tribes of nomads living in the depths of the Amazon rainforest who realise that the new iBook should have a G4.)

So thank you, MacRumors. Keep up the good work. I may never post again, but I'll always be refreshing my page for the latest updates.

Yep a new thread for this one, The One Post Wonders....

Might take too much research.

Welcome aboard, MR Lurker, too bad you didn't come forward when I called all the lurkers out of the shadows. Did you ever see that thread, BTW?

Hope you come back a post some more, especially when you get your new iBook.

Now that's a statement.

BYW, Cleo, when you eventually get around to 500 posts, what are you going to do for an avatar. I'm really curious

I've been thinking about that, too. Especially since I've posted about 50 posts since Monday. I don't have any definite ideas... but I'm open to suggestions. :)

It's funny... IRL I'm not much of a flag-waver, but something about these forums brings out the butch in me. :D

I didn't have any suggestions, I just thought you might have more of a statement to make. No worries. I'd just suggest do what ever you think looks good and has a personal touch.

Ohhhhhh.... my kind of girl. Wow, is it getting warm in here. Angilina Joli and a girl open to suggestions all in one day. Man, my blood pressure is rising.

Ok, now that I've got that silliness out of my system, why don't you get a little picture of the "Jamaican" psychic... Miss Cleo and use that. That would be funny in a silly sort of way.

Then again, you could go obscure.

Oh, just popped into my head. Cleo, have you seen the movie called Bound?

If not, you should.

Yeah, it's on the news here every night... I guess she was operating out of Miami or something. Anyway, they say that she's actually an actress from Seattle. Go figure.

If someone could come up with an animated crystal ball that had a dollar sign, Angilina Joli, and a mac in it floating around, that would be an absolutely perfect avatar for you Cleo.

I think Mac Converts covers it. We do have a lot of different forums anyway.
