Ever since the inception of the Velociraptor HDD, 2.5" 300GB, 10,000RPM, has anyone thought about installing one of these in their mac minis. I know it's a tad big thicker than standard laptop HDD, but is a modification possible to make it work inside a mac mini? If this works, truly, the mac mini would be more powerful than any desktop form factor of its size.

won't fit, unless you sawed the heatsinks off, then it would likely burn up the first day.

The 3.5" cage doesn't make a world of difference in the cooling department.

However the internal 2.5" drive does not have the standard height of 9.5 mm.

Exactly, so theoretically it should be able to fit with some slight modification no?

Hello

I was wondering.

Has anyone tried to install the VelociRaptor into an IMAC 24"
The new one has an 8800gs inside, so the cooling should already be better.

From the data, it should fit...

Please if anyone had the same idea... share your thoughts^^
