Does anyone know what cable I need to hook up a VGA cable (http://www.xbox.com/en-US/hardware/x/xbox360vgahdcable/) to a Z5500 (http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/speakers_audio/home_pc_speakers/devices/224&cl=us,en)?

360 VGA cable has 2 phono audio outputs, right? Reading the specs of the speakers they have an "Analog stereo-mini" input, you can get adapters to shrink down the 2 phono to 2 stereo mini cable.

Doesn't the 360 have digital output anyways? It could be a direct connection without any adapters.

AFAIK the 360 doesn't have a direct connection (unless the elite does), but the HD VGA cable has an optical port (see pic).

It should be okay, so long as the speakers have a stereo phono input. It says it supports PS2/Xbox/Gamecube and they only had stereo phono as their standard audio.

Or just use the optical output which should be better quality anyroad.

You need a TOSLINK cable.

Monoprice has them really cheap.

Pick whatever length you need from the Toslink - Toslink section.
