MacBook Air Review

Decent and generally fair review. I don't think the wireless capabilities , fixed RAM amount or non-user replaceable battery should be cast in a negative light. I understand where you're coming from, but these are stated up front. If you want to replace your own battery, or you want to have 4GB of RAM in your machine, the Air isn't right for you, simple as that.

I agree that out of the box the Air's multitouch is pretty useless, however, you should check out MultiClutch (http://wcrawford.org/2008/02/28/everytime-i-think-about-you-i-touch-my-cell/) if you haven't already. It's a wonderful extension of multitouch to all Cocoa apps. If nothing else, it shows what multitouch will be able to do once more third party developers begin to integrate its uses. This will hopefully be aided by the introduction of multitouch into the MBP, widening the base of machines that are multitouch capable.

Definitely second the need for Apple to hastily bring movie rentals to Canada! I can't imagine why any Canadian would buy an Apple TV with the knowledge that it's most powerful feature isn't available to us.... at least for now.

Just because certain features aren't advertised doesn't mean we can't hold it against the Air! If the "cons" of the Air affected me, I wouldn't have bought one. Because I don't need any USB ports at all really, or the optical drive, ethernet, other types of wireless, etc., it's a solid choice for me. But I think it's important to mention what it LACKS so that others can weigh their options.

I don't think the point about never seeing a higher resolution screen than 1280x800 on a 13" is particularly valid.

We will certainly get higher pixel densities once resolution independence goes mainstream. Other than that a good read.

The way we saw it at NBR was that the MacBook Air has been getting tons of attention, so why not add a second review to the site?

nice review although i truly believe that the macbook air can most definitely be used as a primary computer.
