Locking the dock

I've just given my old PowerBook running Leopard to my father-in-law, who isn't that good with computers, and it seems he has developed an unconscious habit of removing icons from the dock.

Is there a way of locking an app, icon or the dock itself so things can't be dragged off it?

My parents do exactly the same then deny it.

Great, thanks for the links both.

Seems a bit odd that it's not a feature of Leopard - for example, just right-click the icon and select "lock item in Dock".

Its an option in Parental controls, you disable modifying the dock for any account you like.

Utilities like Onyx and Cocktail will also let you lock it.

It only prevents icons being added to the dock I think.

Not true, I've just tested it.

My bad - sorry 😱

I'm sure I tried it in Tiger and it didn't work.
