Pffft, I fit into my heels just fine thank you, I don't need any surgury for my feet, just need to shop around a bit more for ones that fit...

what ever happened to good old foot-binding from birth? so much less traumatic...

edit: i think the point of the article is that this particular fashion causes women to get medical treatment for foot disorders they would have had otherwise... it doesn't sound like there is any medical procedure being used here for the sake of fashion, just podiatry, but it's harder to ignore bent toes when you're wearing this particular footwear.
