Howdy!
I upgraded to Leopard when it first came out. I was very excited to use time machine. I set it up, tested it, everything worked as advertised. It has been completely trouble free, and on the few occasions when I needed to restore an older file, it also worked great.
In anticipation of TM, I added a second GB Ethernet 2TB drive to my network for it. I was a bit disappointed to find TM would not use a network drive. I suppose the bandwidth is not sufficient - not sure. Does anyone know the answer?
Anyway, I have 2 1TB FW800 drives attached to this computer and one did not have much on it. So, I cleared it and have been using it. Today, I finally received a message that the drive was full and older back-ups would not be saved in favor of new backups. The choices were to accept this, or choose another drive. I certainly have options for using another drive. But, I wondered:
1) If I choose another drive, will TM quit writing to the original, and leave it as an 'archive'?
2) Will I need to need to manually reselect it in preferences, to access the information on it?
3) Are there any issues I should be aware of?
I usually try to do the work to solve issues, or find out information. But, TM does not have a great deal of information in the Help. I appreciate any information from someone who has been through the process.
Thanks,
-S
