Am looking for an AV lead to connect to TV's in hotel rooms while away so i can watch my own movies stored on the iPhone.

Is there a cheaper alternative than the £35 Apple Composite AV Cable that still does the job?

And what the difference between this and the Apple Component AV Cable kit?

Component V Compsite both for £35?

i don't believe that's what the original poster was asking.

last i knew, there were still no cheaper alternatives for the composite/component cables that apple offers. apparently with the newer ipods/iphone, you have to buy the official ones. and yes, that totally sucks.

I'm wondering if a self-made cable would work...

I mean buying a dock connector for Ipod and solding the composite signal output (pin 23) to a cinch cable...

see here: http://ipodlinux.org/Dock_connector

Would it be so simple?

I don't think so... otherwise would already be third-party cables on the market...

But if anybody has some experience, please tell me!!
