A Question On RAM

I currently have 512 MB of RAM in my Macbook. I am upgrading and wondering which is better. Adding one 2GB RAM stick or removing the 512 MB and adding two 1GB RAM sticks. What is more important, total amount of RAM, or a balance between the two different RAM sticks? HELP!!!

I'd go to 2 1Gb sticks (that's what I have). You should see a huge performance boost over 512Mb.
