Not being able to label some files

Hey all,

I have a bunch of movies in a folder. After I watch one, I "get info" for it, and choose the red label to remind myself that I've watched it. I've run into a few files lately that have all the colours greyed out and wont let me select them. Is there anyway to get past that and still give them the red label? Or does anyone know why it wouldn't let me label them red?
