Bought cheapo battery for 1st-gen nano.. problems?

I bought a cheapo battery off of ebay to replace my oem one.. it cost about $4 US. You think this would present any problems? I bought against my own good judgement because I need a replacement quick (im in hong kong and got it from a local seller) and am now having second thoughts...

I have done the same with my Nano -- twice. In both cases, the new battery wouldn't recharge, so I'm not sure if I have a problem bigger than just the battery. Anyone else with insight on this?
