Time Capsule and Verizon FIOS Router and Apple TV??

I am looking for any suggestions on the best way to use the time capsule with Verizon FIOS. I was told by the Verizon tech that their router needs to be the main router because their DVR is also connected with the wireless router by coax cable. Right now the only thing I have tried is having the Time Capsule join my wireless network which I believe only allows my iMac and MBA to access files from the Time Capsule and do backups. I also have an Apple TV which I use to stream all my iTunes content from.

What I would like to know is their a better way to increase my speeds when transferring file to the Time Capsule. I tried setting up to extend my network but it fails every time and will not allow me to do so. I want to maximize and get the best performance I can using the Time Capsule on my network.

That thread kind of goes all over the place, but bridge mode sounds like the ticket to get it working. BTW, I'm jealous you have FIOS in Dallas and I don't. :p
