The cursor looks like a lower case 't':

FF has been doing this for ages, going back to at least FF 2.0.x.
It always happens in the Google News page search fields, but
not in most other text entry fields. Safari doesn't do it either.

strange, Mine is fine

are you using leopard, or tiger?

Leopard, but it used to be there in Tiger too,
and on a different machine also.

It's only a tiny little thing, like a grain of sand
being pushed around by the cursor. Perfection
demands that even the smallest grain of sand
be eliminated! 🙂

ps

Are you sure that's the news page you're looking
at?

I have the same thing too. Very odd! I wonder what's causing it. It only shows up at Google News, nowhere else as of yet.

maybe file a bug report, I will do later when I try google news UK. or whoever would like to report.

I think of no reason why it should be so.. indeed strange.

Ok, this is possibly not a bug at all:

https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=434304

Lai Liu: "What you are seeing is the bidi cursor, and if your
system supports RTL input, then what you see is normal."

In other words: Not all languages are written left-to-right
like English. The little smudge shows the writing direction.

Or that's my understanding of it.
