Just for general knowledge, all of these remotes work with all the applicable devices (iMac, Macbook, Macbook Pro, iPod Dock, Appletv, Mac mini etc)

There is no device specific pairing.

I know what you mean (and it is correct), except one detail - you can pair a remote to work with only a single device. This is useful if, say, you have a desk with an iPod, iMac, and MacBook. You want the MB remote to only work on the MB, the iMac remote to only work on the iMac, etc. There is a way to pair it. Equally, you can unpair a device with its remote easily.
