Posted on Apple Support and also various other lists but had no replies at all.

Whenever I try to make a multisession disc on my macbook it fails. I always ensure that the box is ticked to "append" but whenever I make my disc then try to add data everything is greyed out. This is annoying as I have wasted several discs trying this.

any ideas if it is something I am not doing or an actual fault on the macbook?
 
Are you using Leopard? I must admit, I've never tried to make multisession discs with Finder - I've always used the Disk Utility method of creating a disk image of the data I want burned then choosing Burn Image.

That said, I'm not entirely sure why it's not working. It sounds like you're doing the steps correctly, from what I know.
