Is there any way to download part of google maps for use without wifi? I would love to be able to look up directions when I am on the move and away from my wifi. I would even settle for being able to save several searches for future reference. Without these abilities the maps application seems to be of limited usefulness on the Touch, or even the iPhone if you are lost in the middle of nowhere without a cellular signal, which would be a great time to have a map.;)

never heard of any way to do this

Looks like you need an Iphone if you want maps on the go :(

Try Maps Offline from the BigBoss source. Allows you to cache maps and routes.

You'd need to jailbreak your iPod. There's a program called MapCache (I think) and it caches what you've viewed.

iLM also works...

Both iLM and MapsOffline use the same principal... The MapsOffline site has a good tutorial on how to get it working.
