Is it possible to run classic mode in a window as opposed to full screen? I've checked in system preferences and not found anything. I'm running 10.2.

Currently, Classic switches to the MacOS 9 menu bar and Apple menu. It does not take over your computer, which is the usual meaning of "full screen." What would be the point of placing Classic in a separate Window?

I think it would be very handy to run Classic in a window. The OS X Finder and the OS 9.2.2 Finder are not the same. For example, the Control Strip does not exist in the OS X Finder. Classic in a window would make managing between the two OSs easier.

apple has gone to great lengths to make classic windows work right alongside X windows. so this would be a step backwords.

FTM, I'd like to see Virtual PC run OUTSIDE a window. BTW does anyone know a way to cut and paste between VPC programs and Mac programs?

What? Just copy something in OSX and paste it in VPC. If you're running Windows with VPC, make sure you've installed the VPC plugin package.

To answer your question MisterMe, I enjoy playing Heroes of Might and Magic III. But I also enjoy chatting with friends and surfing the net. Since classic is currently set to take over all my screen real-estate I am precluded from participating in these other activities. Maybe it's just Heroes III, but running it in a window instead of fullscreen is what I'm looking for.

That would truly have the tail wag the dog. Is it possbile to run the game on a separate monitor?

I use Classic to play Oregon Trail and Carmen San Diego and they run in a window, which allows OS X to run in the background just fine. The only problem is that they require me to switch to 256 color low res, so OS X looks really, really bad and almost illegible so I generally set the dock to hide and stay away from background tasks while playing in Classic.

Powerbook G5, yeah, I've played SimTower and Risk II in windows and it has required the os to switch to 256 color. The desktop has turned hella ugly, but I don't think Heroes III requires the color switch, though.
MisterMe, I don't want to screw up OSX, I just want my game to run in a window so I can use other applications at the same time. Do you think it's possible? Okay, so I know it's possible, but can I force it?

The Classic window should be skinnable so that models of previous Macs can be used with it. I would propably launch a lot more classic applications if my Classic looked like the lime iMac I once purchased.
