I found this program by Xilisoft that supposedly converts DVD to MP4 in one pass.

Has anyone used it? Any disadvantage to this compared to mactheripper/handbrake other than cost?

Thanks for any advice.

I've only ever used HandBrake, and it does the job very well. I assume it is the most popular program for doing this on the Mac too.

Comes with Apple TV presets too, for those uncomfortable with changing bitrate values etc.

Saying that, I haven't checked out the Xillsoft program, but HandBrake meets all my requirements and it is free.

I agree that Handbrake seems to be the best method for ripping DVD files and converting them to MP4 format for Apple TV -- and you can't beat the price. :)
