View Full Version : Any issues with Xcode & iPhone SDK on a mini?

I've been waiting patiently for a mini refresh to do some iPhone development. While I'm waiting, I figured I might as well ask...is anyone having any mini-specific issues running Xcode & the iPhone SDK on a current gen mini? It's gotta be way plenty computer to write iPhone apps on...right?

The Apple Store has $499 1.83GHz mini refurbs tonight. :cool:

I am curious about a response to this as well, as this is EXACTLY what I want to do this summer. Plus it would make a neat-o Senior project ;-)

:D Well, aparently either no one has any issues with Xcode/iPhone SDK on their mini OR no one develops on a mini. I'm guessing there won't be any issues with it.

A good point was made on another thread though - it's nice as a developer to have the newest out there. BUT, my plan (for now) is just iPhone/touch development, so while a new 8-core Mac Pro would be nice, a mini will probably still get the job done. It kills me to buy a mini "just before" an update, so I'm still waiting.

Funny, I think there is a possibility that that was me that made that comment in the other thread ;-)

Of course, the comment I made was about the serious OSX/iPhone developer, you know, the ones at WWDC, not a student like myself who is running a none intel machine because that is what was available when he left for uni :rolleyes:

I never tried it on my mini, but I run it just fine on a Macbook Air, so you shouldn't have any issues.

I run it just fine on a Macbook Air...Great, thanks for the info. The X3100 is way better than the 950 in the mini though. Hopefully that doesn't get in the way of the iPhone simulator. (It's still gotta be plenty, right? :))

I bought my Mini specifically for iPhone dev and it works fine. I did find that 2GB is the minimum memory to avoid swapping when doing larger builds in Xcode. I am about to bump up to 4GB (3.3GB usable) so that I can leave my VMWare Fusion WinXP VM up when I am working.
