OS X 10.2 performance...

and for those with G3's complaining about the lack of Aqua Extreme support...
Whether starting applications, switching applications or simply scrolling, the system remains responsive, say users, and one reported several hours use on a G3 system without seeing the wait cursor once.

I can't wait. I guess I shouldn't worry about 10.2 from now on. I'm running 10.1.4 with 384 megs of RAM and my PowerBook is pretty snappy. 10.2 should be a lot faster so I have no worries here. If I get a new TiBook this summer, I sure as hell won't worry:)

The new Dock is going to be great....I suggested to Apple feedback to also divide the Documents that are minimized from the Finder folders into separate sections on the Dock. Having both in the same section can be disorienting. If you agree with me, please go here http://www.apple.com/macosx/feedback

I can only imagine how 10.2 will run on my new 800MHz TiBook or my 733MHz G4 tower at work. Both meet the suggested specifications for optimum performance. :D

Well, neither of mine do. However, my iMac has 1 gig of ram, so it should run better. My iBooks have 384, but will go to 640 soon. The buzz that I am hearing is very positive indeed. I really hope we hear soon from someone with a G3 powered machine running the preview.

I can't wait to see how it runs on whatever comes out this summer at macworld. Thats what I will be buying.

ALso, do you think that if I buy a mac at macworld this summer, will I get a free update to 10.2? Or will I have to pony up the cash for the update. Since it should be coming out a month later I would think it would be free, but then again who knows.

Update prebinding. Get the freeware Pacifist which in it includes an Update Prebinding menu and the ability to read Package installers. It is the same process that after every 10.1 update Apple Optimizes the system. You may notice that over time any version slows down, and that's because prebinding needs to be updated. Even my Powerbook G3/233 with 512k backside and 192MB of RAM has no serious speed issues thanks to updating prebinding.

You're severely underestimating 10.2. My comp is a G3 233 w/ 384MB RAM and a new (faster) HD. It doesn't have any speed problems either. When X.2 comes out the question "Does it have speed problems?" won't be relevant anymore, if what I've been hearing is true.
