Upscaling DVD's???

Just reading that the PS3 can do this?

What exactly is it... It can't exactly change the quality of the DVD so I don't see the point...

Can someone explain?

It makes the picture fit to the pixels, so it maps each pixel to say 2 or 3 on HD, your TV does it for everything, the PS3 is just FAR better at it.
